The Bomb Squad got their revenge sweeping the Misfits 2-0. Last Season, the Misfits swept the Bomb Squad in the regular season, and in the playoff semi finals the 2 seed Misfits who went 5-3 faced off against the 3 seeded 4-4 Bomb Squad. Here the Bomb Squad won game 1, to which the Misfits one the next two games and won game 3 in 7 innings, 2-1, to which the Misfits won the world series sweeping the Northern Sea Monsters and leaving a bitter taste of revengegoing into the 2023 season for the Bomb Squad. Misfits captain Griffin Rizzi looked to continue their teams success from the previous season against Bomb Squad captain Ethan Stauffer who also won a World Series in the NWL out of Brighton, New York.
Game 1 started off with a scoreless first inning from both teams, but the Bomb Squad tacked on a run in the second thanks to hits from brothers Ethan and Aidan Stauffer. The Misfits would get on the board right after with two runs from walks off of Ethan Stauffer. Ethan quickly regained his tempo and got out of the bases loaded jam only allowing too, but needing his team to treck from behind. The game stayed 2-1 until the bottom of the fourth inning until Griffin Rizzi started to lose control on the mound. Hitters Will Lutz and Aidan Stauffer worked very long counts for walks and the Bomb Squad walked in two runs winning Game 1 in walkoff fashion.
In Game 2, Griffin continued to struggle on the mound letting up 1 run in the first inning. Ethan Stauffer continued to dominate all day long tallying 6 strikeouts in each game for a total of 12 on the day and pitching all 8 innings for his team. The score would stay 1-0 until the top of the 4th when Aidan Stauffer took Griffin Rizzi yard for his first career EWA home run on a slider over the middle that Aidan got all of, making the score now 2-0. The Bomb Squad wouldn't look back from this insurance as they rolled through the Misfits in this series by a score of 2-0 in Game 2 and sweeping the series 2-0. Ethan Stauffer threw two no-hitters making the Misfits looking like easy work all day, showing his early contender ability to win the Cy Young award this season. The Misfits didint get a hit all series and only scored two runs, despite decent pitching from Griffin Rizzi, showing they need to find themselves for the rest of the season.
